Product Introduction
Insulating FR-4 glass fiber board is one of the most widely used and important basic materials in the electronics industry, mainly used for manufacturing printed circuit boards.
Main performance characteristics:
1. Excellent electrical insulation:
High volume resistivity and surface resistivity.
Low dielectric constant (Dk) and dielectric loss tangent (Df), performing well at low frequencies and normal working frequencies. The standard Dk of FR-4 is usually 4.2-4.8 (@1MHz), and Df is 0.015-0.025 (@1MHz). This is its core performance as a circuit board substrate.
2. Good mechanical properties:
High strength and rigidity: The glass fiber cloth provides excellent tensile strength, bending strength and stiffness, which can support components and withstand certain stress.
Dimensional stability: Within a certain temperature and humidity range, the dimensional change is small, which is important for ensuring circuit accuracy.
Good drilling and processing properties: Facilitates drilling, milling, stamping and other PCB manufacturing processes.
3. Flame retardancy:
This is the origin of the "FR" name. Brominated epoxy resin enables it to reach the UL 94 V-0 level of flame retardant standards, effectively suppressing the spread of flames when on fire, and improving the safety of electronic equipment. This is a mandatory safety requirement.
4. Heat resistance:
The glass transition temperature is usually within the range of 130°C - 180°C (depending on the resin formula). The Tg of ordinary FR-4 is approximately 130-140°C, the medium Tg is 150-160°C, and the high Tg can reach 170-180°C or higher.
A higher Tg means that the board can better maintain mechanical strength and dimensional stability at high temperatures, especially crucial during lead-free soldering (higher temperatures). The decomposition temperature is much higher than the Tg.
Good resistance to welding heat, capable of withstanding the thermal shock of standard soldering processes.
5. Chemical resistance:
Has good resistance to most solvents, acids and bases, and can withstand chemical treatments such as etching, electroplating and cleaning during the PCB manufacturing process.
